Southshore. We’re All Just Frolicking Around.

One of the best things about living in Southshore is how easy it is to stay active. There’s no shortage of outdoor spots to explore—and if you're new to the area or just looking to escape your house without technically going anywhere, we’ve got you covered.
Below are a few local gems where you can walk, wander, or—my personal favorite—frolic. And honestly, everyone should frolic at least once in a while.
🌊 Apollo Beach Nature Preserve
This used to be a hidden gem where you could listen to the waves and disappear into your thoughts. These days, it’s more of a hot spot—especially in the summer. Still worth it, even if the secret’s out.
🌴 E.G. Simmons Park
Waterfront views, nature trails, and the occasional raccoon surprise—what more could you want in a park?
👟 Waterset & MiraBay Trails
You don’t have to live there to take advantage of the miles of scenic, well-kept trails. Bonus points for water views and shade!
🌿 Nature Preserve Roundup
Alafia Scrub Preserve, Balm-Boyette Scrub, Wolf Branch Creek, Golden Aster Scrub, Cockroach Bay, Jeanie and Pete Johnson Preserve, Little Manatee River State Park, Triple Creek, Myron and Helen Gibbons Preserve... the list goes on, and honestly, it's impressive.
So go ahead—lace up your shoes, step outside, and soak it in.
Your couch will still be there when you get back.

Earth Day Challenge: Show Us Your Slice of Nature

Earth Day was April 22, but here at The Southshore Circle, we’re celebrating all month long—and we want you to join in.
Whether it's a stunning sunrise over Apollo Beach, a serene walk through Triple Creek, or your kid proudly watering the one plant you’ve somehow managed to keep alive—we want to see the Earth through your eyes.
So here’s the ask:
Send us your best nature pics!
It could be something beautiful, something wild, or just something that makes you appreciate the planet a little more.
📧 Email them to: [email protected]
📝 Subject line: Earth Day
📅 Deadline: April 30
We’ll be featuring a collection of your photos in a special Earth Day roundup at the end of the month. Bonus points if you include a quick note about where you took the pic or why it means something to you.
Let’s remind each other just how lucky we are to live in a place this beautiful—and why it’s worth protecting.
So go on, take a hike (literally), snap a pic, and share a little piece of your world with ours. 🌿📸
