🧠 Alzheimer’s Hits Women Hard—But Hormones Might Be the Missing Defense
Brought to you by Wellness Vitalized, Riverview’s Premier Hormone & Wellness Clinic

“Ladies, let’s talk: Can hormones help protect your brain?
(Spoiler: Yes. Big time!)”
—Carine, Founder of Wellness Vitalized
Alzheimer’s is not a gender-neutral disease. Nearly 2 out of 3 Alzheimer’s patients are women. And while many assume that’s just because women live longer, newer science suggests that’s only part of the story.
As Carine explained in a recent message to her clients, “We’ve had some exciting news this year when it comes to women’s health, hormones, and brain protection.”
She’s talking about a massive study of more than 7 million women that asked one simple question:
Can starting hormone replacement therapy (HRT) after menopause lower your risk of Alzheimer’s?
The answer was a resounding YES:
🌸 Women who began estrogen therapy within 3–5 years of menopause lowered their risk by 44%.
💊 Women who took oral estrogen dropped their risk by 55%.
🧬 And women with the APOE4 gene—the one that increases Alzheimer’s risk—saw up to an 87% reduction in risk when taking oral estrogen.
But here’s the critical part: not all hormones are the same.
“CEE is a synthetic estrogen. At Wellness Vitalized, we do not recommend or prescribe synthetic hormones. We focus on bioidentical options like E2 (estradiol) that your body recognizes and uses more naturally,” Carine explained.
At Wellness Vitalized, every client receives a custom plan—not a prescription pad approach. Whether you’re struggling with brain fog, sleep, mood, or just want to future-proof your health, this is where you start the conversation.
“It’s not one-size-fits-all, and we don’t just throw pills around,” Carine said.
“But if we can help you feel better now, while also protecting your future self… why wouldn’t we explore it?”
🌿 Your brain matters. Your hormones do too.
Let’s connect the dots—together.

Ghosts of The Alafia

Part Two
Bell Creek’s Burning
In 1907, a lone cabin stood near Bell Creek. One night, neighbors saw the sky turn orange, but no smoke followed. By the time they arrived, the cabin was ash, and claw marks were gouged deep into the surrounding trees. No body. Just a half-melted lantern and a burned boot. Locals sealed the site off, saying the river was cursed. But one teenage boy didn’t believe in curses. He wanted to prove it was just superstition.
He walked into the Bell Creek woods on a dare, and came out screaming, “There’s something down there! And it knows my name!”

🚗 Permit Panic Postponed: DETS Now Required — Extended to August 1!

A few weeks ago, we shared an update about Florida Teens needing extra training for their learner's permits. July 1, that was set to become mandatory, but there’s more: the start date has now been pushed back to August 1. Here's what you need to know:
🔁 Change in Timeline
Originally, July 1, 2025, was the date when teens aged 15–17 had to complete a full Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course instead of just the basic TLSAE
Under the new extension, Florida teens now have until August 1, 2025, to complete either:
DETS (6-hour course) or
The original TLSAE (4-hour course) completed before July 1
📋 What That Means for You
Complete TLSAE before July 1, 2025? You’re covered even up to August 1—to use that certificate for your permit
After August 1, all teens under 18 will be required to take the 6-hour DETS course—no exceptions.
Adults 18+ remain unaffected—TLSAE + written test is sufficient
✅ Why It Matters
DETS goes beyond basic law and substance abuse education. It offers deeper training on defensive driving, distracted driving risks, and real-world scenarios, designed to make teen drivers safer on the road.
With schools and providers preparing for the change, this extension gives families a bit more breathing room.
🔍 Final Takeaway
If your teen hasn’t started driver training yet, get TLSAE done ASAP before July 1. If you miss it, plan on enrolling in DETS before August 1.
