A Flood Of Information

With major flood discussions happening in Tampa next week, many of us in Southshore are asking the same thing: What is Hillsborough County doing to protect us? 🌊
The truth is, flooding isn’t just a “city” problem. From Ruskin to Riverview, Apollo Beach to Wimauma—we’ve all seen how one heavy storm can turn a street into a river and a backyard into a swamp.
Over the coming weeks, The Southshore Circle is going deeper.
We’ll be talking to:
🛠️ Roofers who know where leaks love to hide
🔧 Plumbers who understand how stormwater backs up
🏗️ Contractors who can spot weak spots before they fail
💧 Restoration experts who clean up after the damage is done
📋 And even insurance adjusters who know how to protect your home before a claim
Our mission is simple: make sure you're informed and prepared before the next big storm rolls in.
Because here in Southshore, staying dry starts with staying ahead. ☔
Stay tuned—and stay safe.

⛳ Swing Hard. Support Vets. Tell Your Boss It’s "Networking."

Look, I’ll be honest, I don’t really like golf. My friends are always trying to drag me out there like it’s some relaxing day of fun. Meanwhile, I’m sweating through my shirt, swinging at air, and arguing with a squirrel over my ball.
But this is one golf game I’m not playing in… and you probably should.
The Lightning Hero Grant Fall Golf Tournament is more than just a day on the green. It’s raising money for Hillsborough County Veterans Helping Veterans, a group doing real work for the men and women who’ve served this country. We're talking housing, job support, and the kind of assistance that actually changes lives.
So if you’ve got a halfway decent swing or just a love for a good cause, this is your shot. Grab your clubs, your coworkers, or your best excuse to take the day off and support a program that supports the people who’ve supported all of us.
I may sit this one out, but if you're going, just know: your triple bogey might actually make a difference.

The Fruit Beneath The Silence

Wimauma never got malls or marble statues. What it got was fields—miles of them. Tomatoes, oranges, strawberries… picked by hands no one remembered but everyone depended on. Migrant workers broke their backs while cities elsewhere played golf. Generations lived in trailers, patched roofs with duct tape, and made miracles out of school supplies from Dollar Tree. But while the state looked away, something powerful grew under the hot sun. Not crops, conviction.
Because Wimauma didn’t need attention to burn, it had its own fire.
