Tooth Be Told: Florida Might Ban Fluoride

Here’s something you probably didn’t expect to be debating in 2025: fluoride in your drinking water.

Florida lawmakers just passed Senate Bill 700, part of the larger “Florida Farm Bill,” which—despite its agricultural name—could lead to big changes at the tap. The bill doesn’t mention fluoride outright, but it bans certain additives in public water supplies, and yes, fluoride is one of them. All that’s left now is the governor’s signature.

AROUND TOWN

Southshore Spotlight

Jacob Mobley

The Mobley name is as common in Ruskin as mosquitoes — but Jacob Mobley is anything but ordinary.

Heading into his senior year at Lennard High, Jacob is ready to lead the Longhorns with a 4.5 GPA and over 3,000 career passing yards. A former basketball player turned quarterback, his arm has helped push Lennard football back over the .500 mark for the first time since 2020.

Off the field, he volunteers with youth sports and leads by example. With hopes of playing Division I football, Jacob is a standout student, athlete, and role model.

A talented young man from a great local family — keep going, Jacob!

Latitudes
