Memorial Day Edition
Remembering Why, Bear Trouble, and No More Hitting the Snooze
Brought to you today by:

From Friday’s Edition But Worth Repeating
Upon Us All

As you prep the boat, fire up the grill, or toss around a football in the backyard, take a moment to reflect on the reason this day exists. Memorial Day isn’t just a long weekend—it’s a solemn tribute to the men and women of our armed forces who paid the ultimate price, laying down their lives in defense of our country.
We pause not just to honor the fallen, but to recognize a sobering truth: the cost of freedom rests upon us all. It's a legacy—not a burden—that we carry together. In gratitude. In remembrance. And in action.
Politics, by design, is divisive. That’s why we leave it out of this newsletter. So today, let’s not be Republicans or Democrats, black or white, ugly or handsome (but hey—if the mirror’s smiling at you, smile back).
Let’s just be Americans.
The Southshore Circle was created to bring our community closer together. For at least one day, let’s try to be worthy of the sacrifice so many gave for that very idea. Share a beer. Share a burger. Most of all—share a smile.

Bearly Legal

🪓🐻 First it was the alligators. Then the snakes. Well bears, you’re next on the chopping block. Literally.
Florida’s wildlife has been in the hot seat lately, and the latest to feel the heat? Black bears. At this week’s FWC meeting in Ocala, Commissioners voted to move forward with plans that could reopen regulated bear hunting in Florida. If all goes through, the 2025–26 hunting season could be open season for Smokey and friends.
Ron Says Wake Up

If your teen was already dreaming of extra shut-eye thanks to those new school start times—bad news. That dream just hit the snooze button... permanently.
In a rare political U-turn, Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation repealing the law that was set to delay middle and high school start times statewide. Translation? That plan to let students start later? It’s officially out the window.
