Awareness Month

If you’ve ever drifted off mid-conversation, forgotten your keys for the third time this week, or sat in a room of people thinking, “Am I the only one…”, you’ve probably brushed past ADHD. But October is ADHD Awareness Month, and it’s the time we pull it out from whispers and headlines into full view.

ADHD is usually seen as a kid thing, jumping, not listening, and daydreaming. But it doesn’t always vanish once school’s over. In fact, many adults live with it silently, managing the chaos with spreadsheets, sticky notes, and an internal monologue that never stops.

This Year’s Theme: “The Many Faces of ADHD”

Because there’s no single “ADHD look.” It doesn’t care about gender, age, or background. This theme pushes back against the tired stereotype that ADHD is only about hyper kids bouncing off walls. It’s about focus, impulse, motivation, and everything in between.

You know, plumbing and ADHD have a lot in common — both can be running full speed one minute and completely backed up the next!
Sometimes the pressure builds, the flow gets redirected, and we’re left wondering where did that water… or thought… even go?
At Kuma Plumbing, we specialize in restoring focus and flow — no chaos, no clogs, just clean, clear results.
October is ADHD Awareness Month, so let’s remember to show patience, support, and understanding — every mind, like every plumbing system, works a little differently. 💛

Cool it Now…TECO That Means You

Popular Opinion

With the current cold front, the AC isn’t running quite as often as usual. As a matter of fact, as I sit here and write this, my AC is off and my windows are open. I know, crazy. But what are the chances my electric bill cools down?

It’s been a minute since we’ve complained about TECO. They don’t deserve the reprieve. It’s a monopoly, a racket, a gang worthy of the old Rudy Giuliani and the RICO Act. I’ve seen my bill double, then double again, in a year and a half. And no, while I am a writer, that is not hyperbole. You know who else raises prices on their captive “customers” like that? The mob.

You can try to get out, but they pull you back in. I’ve decided that what we need in this newsletter is a solid solar partner. If you know one, put us in contact, because I’ve seen The Godfather, Goodfellas, and Scarface. I know how this story ends.

Why are our bills so high? Because TECO is a state-regulated monopoly, customers don’t have another power company to choose from. Rates are set by the Florida Public Service Commission, which lets TECO recover the cost of fuel, storm protection, and grid upgrades, plus a guaranteed profit. Let me say that again. A guaranteed profit.

In short, TECO says, “We need this much,” and the FPSC says, “Okay.” I‘m not sure that’s how it’s supposed to work. Stay tuned. We may make it our mission to turn Southshore into the solar mecca.
