Not Again…

“Oh the multiplying villainies of nature do swarm upon him.”
I often channel my inner Shakespeare when life starts flinging drama my way. It makes me feel noble, heroic—like I'm on some epic quest. But honestly, I’m just a guy trying to make it across Southshore without donating another tire to the great pothole in the sky. Seriously, where to even begin?
That pothole in the picture above? It could easily be Southshore’s official mascot at this point. We've got so many potholes, the roads look less like streets and more like the surface of the moon. This latest tire-eating monster took another victim last Monday—my fourth tire casualty in four months. Yes, four tires, four months. If you're thinking that's ridiculous, you're right—it absolutely is.
Southshore, we deserve way better than this! Sure, there's a token repaving project on parts of 301, and some vague promises about future roadwork. But as it stands, our streets still look like they’re auditioning for a Swiss cheese commercial. Until something meaningful gets done, let’s keep the pressure on our local officials—emailing, calling, and making enough noise until they're tired of hearing from us. Dodging potholes shouldn't be our official community sport.
Want to join the cause? Next time you spot an article, social media post, or rant about Southshore’s road woes, hit share—repeatedly. The louder we are, the quicker local government will remember that working roads aren’t supposed to be optional. It’s high time local government starts doing it’s job, working for us.
Are General Contractors Roofers?

The Roof-apocalypse continues across Southshore. Just one stroll through any neighborhood, and the sea of blue tarps waving in the breeze confirms the struggle is still very real. Between sluggish insurance claims, a shortage of skilled labor, and the seemingly impossible task of finding reputable roofers, getting repairs done has become a never-ending headache. But beware: trying to cut corners might turn that headache into a full-blown nightmare.
Before letting your neighbor’s cousin’s best friend tackle your roof or hiring a general contractor who swears they've "done a few roofs," take a moment to reconsider. General contractors are excellent at managing projects, but actual roofing repairs and installations typically require a licensed roofing contractor. Taking shortcuts might not only leave you with questionable craftsmanship but could also land you with hefty fines, insurance complications, and even difficulty reselling your home later on.
Bottom line: when it comes to your roof, shortcuts just aren't worth the risk. Choose a licensed roofer and keep your home—and sanity—intact.
Upcoming Community Meetings
Did you know Riverview has an official community plan? Believe it or not, it's true—and it covers everything from enhancing community character and promoting local economic growth, to developing a vibrant town center. Sounds great, right? But as Mike Tyson famously said, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face.”
Well, Riverview residents, now's your chance to avoid that metaphorical punch. Community planners are holding public meetings on March 22nd and 25th at the Riverview Public Library, with an additional virtual session on April 1st, to discuss and update these plans. No actual punches are expected (hopefully), but it's an excellent opportunity to have your say.
If you live in Riverview, I strongly encourage you to participate and make your voice heard. As Riverview—and the entire Southshore area—continues to grow at lightning speed, it's essential that we residents help shape the community’s future. After all, there's no telling what kind of shenanigans these planners might cook up if left unsupervised. Let’s make sure Riverview's vision truly reflects the people who call it home.
