📬 Save Our Apollo Beach Post Office: Community Action Needed

The Apollo Beach post office has been around longer than most of our HOA rules, and that’s saying something. It’s been faithfully stamping, sorting, and delivering for over three decades, serving as a hub where locals bump into old friends, chat with familiar clerks, and occasionally forget which mailbox their return package goes in (guilty).

But now, the clock’s ticking. The contract for our beloved post office ends on September 30, 2025, and unless something changes, those doors could close permanently. That’s not just inconvenient, it’s a blow to the heart of Apollo Beach.

Yes, we’ve taken on the "Southshore" moniker as the region’s grown. But that doesn’t mean our individual towns should fade into one big blob of chain stores and faceless service centers. Apollo Beach still matters. Our post office matters. And losing it would be like forgetting your cousin’s birthday, you can recover, but it stings for a while.

A petition is already circulating to stop the closure and call on Congresswoman Castor and USPS leadership to take action. Nearly 600 residents have already signed, and momentum is building. But we need more voices, more stories, and more of that small-town grit that got us here in the first place.

Make your voice heard, sign the petition today!

Wimauma: The Town That Wouldn’t Die

They say Captain Davis didn’t name Wimauma with a map in hand, he named it with his heart. At the edge of the tracks in 1902, he merged his daughters' names—Willa, Maude, Mary—into something that sounded like a whisper and a war cry all at once: Wimauma.

A town born of family, planted in sweat, and stitched together with the rattling rhythm of trains. It grew modestly, quietly…like a secret the world hadn’t earned yet. But then the trains stopped. And the world did what it always does to quiet towns, it forgot.

But Wimauma was already learning how to fight alone.

One of the Best in the Nation—Right in Our Backyard 🌴🎉

July is National Park & Recreation Month, and Hillsborough County isn’t just participating, we’re leading the pack. Yep, our local Parks & Rec Department was just ranked one of the best in the entire country!

That means when you’re out hiking in Balm-Boyette, kayaking through E.G. Simmons, or letting the kids run wild at a splash pad, you're not just enjoying the outdoors, you’re experiencing award-winning excellence.

And let's be honest, it's Florida. If we didn’t have good parks, we’d all be sweating in our driveways yelling at mosquitoes.

So this July, grab your cooler, round up the family, and celebrate with a walk, a paddle, or even just a swing-set session. Because our parks don’t just make Southshore prettier.

They make it better.
