HALLOWEEN SWEEPS INTO THE SHORE

That’s right, it’s that time of the year again. The skeletons are out, the pumpkins are carved and in a few short days the neighborhoods will be descended upon by swarms of adolescents looking for their sugar fix.

In Today’s Edition:

  • Southshore’s haunted history

  • Trick, treat, or trash

  • Spooky stories around the Bay

Ghosts of Southshore

This may come as a surprise to many, but Southshore has its own haunted past. From ghost sightings to unidentified creatures lurking in the depths, the area is not without its fair share of Halloween folklore.

Native American burial mounds are speckled all over Ruskin and the Riverview area has so many ghost sightings that there’s a Facebook page dedicated to them.

If you’re looking for a fright this Halloween, it might be as easy as peeking out of your back window. Let us know your favorite scary stories from around the shore.

Trick Or Treat

Let’s keep in mind the impact all of our treats can have on the local wildlife. Plastics and other manmade trash aren’t just an eyesore, but can be a death sentence to the animals that call Southshore home. Make sure to clean up any discarded treats and remind the local candy wranglers to put wrappers and other trash in the proper waste bins.

Ybor’s Cuban Club is a haunted legend

Less than ten miles from Southshore, Ybor City has been a longstanding destination for nightlife. But snuggled in the cobblestoned streets is a dark secret. The Cuban Club, which currently sits as an events location but once upon a time was a bustling ballroom, courtyard, and theatre. As the story goes the place is haunted by three ghosts which include an actor that committed suicide on stage, a businessman who was beaten to death in the boardroom after a heated argument, and a young boy that drowned in the swimming pool.

I’m not sure if any of that is true, but they do offer tours of the location and it might be worth a visit. Book a tour - HERE
