The Game is Changing

The internet was supposed to make it easier to build and connect. Somewhere along the way, we lost the plot.

beehiiv is changing that once and for all.

On November 13, they’re unveiling what’s next at their first-ever Winter Release Event. For the people shaping the future of content, community, and media, this is an event you can’t miss.

You’re Gonna Need a Bigger Straw

Incoming Construction

Southshore, sharpen your patience. Starting in November, crews kick off a 26-mile water pipeline that’s basically a giant straw for our booming neighborhoods, moving up to 65 million gallons of drinking water a day when it’s all done. Think Brandon to Lithia to Balm, with tunneling under SR 60, the CSX tracks, and the Alafia to keep early headaches mostly underground.

The price tag is big, the job is bigger, and yes, surface work and lane shifts arrive in 2026. Wrap time is slated for late 2028. Translation: for the next few years, your shortcut won’t be short, your Waze will get snippy, and you’ll swear that detour sign moved overnight.

The upside is real. More people means more demand, and this project future-proofs our taps so your morning coffee isn’t playing drip, drip, maybe. Do your future self a favor: build in extra drive time, warn your delivery drivers, and pick a backup pickup line for school. If you discover a new favorite taco while dodging cones, call it a win. We have a few recommendations. 😄

Stimulus Payment Rumors: Don’t Fall for the Hype

You may have seen posts or videos claiming that a new $1,390 or $2,000 “stimulus” payment is being deposited this October.

Let’s clear the air — these claims are false.

The IRS and multiple fact-checking agencies have confirmed that no new federal stimulus program has been approved or authorized by Congress.

Any messages, emails, or social media posts suggesting otherwise are misleading or scams attempting to gather your personal or banking information.

Your Weekly Weather Watch

It’s giving Fall Vibes…sort of.

I was sitting on the side of a soccer pitch last week, scrolling the 10-day forecast. I grinned with elation at the incoming cold front when an off-target free kick narrowly missed my head and blasted the Big Gulp out of the hands of the woman next to me. “Damn it!” she yelled, now wearing her cherry Icee.

I share this little anecdote to explain my feelings about this “cold front.” Just as I’m sure that woman planned to enjoy her icy beverage, I was equally ready to relax with some moderately cool temps. And while mornings have been as advertised, anything after 10 a.m. is business as usual. Short version: It’s still hot, y’all.

But don’t lose hope. Meteorologists are watching the Atlantic and the Gulf, which tend to perk up around this time. That doesn’t mean named storms, but maybe just enough activity to send a cool breeze our way. For now, it’s quiet for us. Jerry and Karen have faded into history, and Tropical Storm Lorenzo seems eager to do the same. We’ll keep watching.

Bottom line: it’s a little cooler, but not sweater season. Trust me, I tried, and I’ve accepted that my metabolism isn’t on the same setting as these teenagers who wear hoodies all summer. Florida fall is a state of mind, and mine still includes plenty of AC.
