Want to get your business in The Southshore Circle? Let’s talk!

FRIED FLAVOR TAKES THE CROWN

Rise and shine, Southshore. It’s The Southshore Circle calling, the newsletter that delivers faster than Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. 🎄

In Today’s Edition:

  • Fresh from the Farm

  • Clean Sweep

  • The Wing King has been crowned

In Southshore, the Farm is Never Far

Southshore is a haven for fresh, locally grown produce, with hidden gems across Apollo Beach, Wimauma, Ruskin, and Riverview. Forget the grocery store lines—head straight for fruits and veggies that went from field to table faster than you can say “organic.” Plus, you’ll be supporting the local community while you’re at it.

Ruskin Fresh Market has seasonal favorites like strawberries and tomatoes, along with friendly service. In Wimauma, Primos Supermarket offers citrus, melons, and greens that make you question why you ever bought a lemon that wasn’t actually fresh. Over in Apollo Beach, the Cypress Creek Co Op brings local honey, jams, and baked goods to the table, offering variety with a side of convenience. And Riverview residents have Wolfe’s Produce Market, known for its fruits and local honey, proving that the best things really do come in small, packages.

Shopping at these local stands means fresher, more flavorful produce—without the stress of dodging shopping carts in overcrowded aisles. You’re also helping local farmers, reducing carbon footprints, and keeping money circulating within our community. It’s basically a win-win, except you’re not actually "winning" anything... other than fresh produce, of course.

But running these stands isn't all sunshine and strawberries. With unpredictable weather, rising costs, and big-box competition, it's a tough gig. So, every purchase you make is like a small victory for our farmers and our community.

These stands are more than just places to shop—they’re Southshore’s heart and soul, one ear of corn at a time. So, next time you’re craving fresh flavors, swing by one of these local gems and help keep our agricultural roots strong.

It’s Now or Never

On December 9th, Hillsborough County launched the final push to clear debris left behind by the recent storms. Dubbed the “last sweep,” this effort is your opportunity to dispose of storm-related waste. If you still have destruction, demolition debris, or yard waste lying around, now is the time to place it at the curb for collection.

So far, an estimated 2.9 million cubic yards of debris have been removed, and the County estimates they're only halfway through the cleanup. This monumental task has come with a hefty price tag, but thanks to FEMA reimbursement for debris collection within the first 90 days after the storm, the county is racing against the clock to meet the deadline.

Slowly, the sights around town are shifting from piles of storm wreckage to dazzling Christmas lights. These storms left their mark, but the quicker we clear the remnants, the sooner we can fully embrace the holiday spirit and leave the destruction behind us. Let’s make it happen!

The Wing King of Southshore

The results are in, folks, and Fried Flavor has officially soared to the top of the wing hierarchy! We highly recommend you hustle on down to 10685 Big Bend Rd. and put their wings to the test yourself. When it comes to saucy, spicy, and that extra kick of “hot damn,” Fried Flavor is flying high and leaving the competition in its wake.

Of course, we can’t forget Selfie Subs, which earned the coveted people’s vote. If you’re craving wings here in Southshore, you really can’t go wrong with either spot. But hey, someone had to take home the crown, and Fried Flavor came in hot—literally.

We’re already plotting a rematch in six months, with plans to add more contestants and even more enthusiastic judges. Until then, we’re shifting gears (and palates). Maybe it’s time to hunt down the best French Onion soup or discover the reigning champion of Lobster Bisque. What’s your ultimate foodie quest? Let us know, and we might just make it our next showdown!
