🎬 Southshore Story Time Begins Next Week!

Starting next Monday, we’re diving headfirst into the wild, weird, and downright cinematic history of Southshore. From vanishing cities and 8-foot giants to rivers of fire and restless ghosts, our hometown’s past isn’t just old—it’s legendary.

Each week, we’ll feature a short serialized narrative that brings these local tales to life, one thrilling chapter at a time.

Because Southshore doesn’t just have history—it has stories. And it’s time we started telling them.

Featured Story

You’re Not Alone

The Southshore Circle began as a way to combine my love for writing with my passion for supporting the community. It’s been a meaningful journey, and along the way, I’ve met some incredible people. But few stories have humbled me like that of Keisha Wheeler.

Many of us have lent a helping hand—but Keisha did it while enduring the greatest loss of her life. That kind of strength is rare. It’s the kind of bravery I can only hope to show if life ever tests me the same way.

Keisha founded Hand in Hand Grief Support, a group that doesn’t just offer comfort—it embodies the very best of what a community should be. A place where pain is shared, burdens are lightened, and no one has to grieve alone.

Grief is one of the few things every one of us will face. But here’s the truth: you don’t have to face it by yourself.

If you or someone you know is walking through loss, please know that Hand in Hand is here—with open arms and a steady light for even the darkest of hours.

Because sometimes, all it takes is someone walking beside you.

On The Boulevard

Apollo Beach is booming—and with more people comes more traffic, more walkers, and more near misses on Apollo Beach Boulevard. Now, Hillsborough County is reviewing safety upgrades for one of our busiest roads.

Locals like Casey Appleby and Zujey Chavez say it's overdue. "The sidewalks are narrow, there aren't enough crosswalks, and traffic just flies through," Appleby said.

Zujey pointed out one of the worst spots: trying to cross near Finn’s and Circles, where parking is limited and traffic rarely stops.

Proposed improvements include:

  • Filling sidewalk gaps

  • Adding mid-block pedestrian crossings

  • Possibly converting one lane in each direction for bikes or golf carts

  • Adding turn lanes at Fairway Blvd and Manila Palm Way

🚸 County officials held a public open house on May 27 to discuss the project, and residents can still weigh in online through June 10.

Because growing communities need smarter streets—and safer ways to share them.
